Too Much Heaven
I'm feeling nostalgic tonight. I'm transported back in time to my childhood years - time rated - 1979 and thereabouts.
It's the song by the Bee Gees, "Too Much Heaven".
Somehow the Gibb brothers' harmonies gets to me. Hits the heart. Every time!
I remember the first time I heard this song. It was on a visit to Singapore, at a shopping mall.
It made me feel a longing for heaven. Why? I guess the beauty of the song suggested something of the beauty of the eternal. It certainly felt that way. And though the song was about love of the human kind, it drew me to an entirely different realm.
Perhaps that's the way it is meant to be while we are alive on earth.
And that is see, hear, touch, taste life in all its beauty that we are drawn to that deep inner thought - that there must be more to life than this life.
It can happen with a song. Or walking hand in hand with the one you love. Or a early morning walk by the beach with your labrador. Or watching the seabirds fly, soaring above the ocean's roar. Or a spider's web pearled with sparkling dew drops. Or the sweet serenity and stillness of an ancient green forest.
It's your beautiful baby's eyes glancing into yours, smiling. It's your daughter snuggling next to you as you read the bed time story.
And here is the Bee Gees with Too Much Heaven!
