Practising Mindfulness
Life is beautiful. Life is exciting. Life is unpredictable. Life can also be stressful. Life is such that not everything and not everyone will go your way or agree with you or your views.
Life is such that usually we get reactive rather than proactive. And being reactionary shifts a person into either a defensive or offensive mode without the calmness and clarity of thinking. It's just human instinct kicking into gear. And that's not the best because there are better solutions that can emerge if we refuse be too quick off the trigger to react.
Practising mindfulness helps present a non-reactionary approach. It means to be fully in the present moment and being aware of my own physiological and psychological state as well as being aware of the states of the person I'm dealing with.
It also helps when I have pen and paper at hand to jot down notes. This helps me keep focused on the logical and the factual rather than the irrational and emotional.
