Expiry date
Everything has an expiry date
Whether it’s printed on a label and glued to a bottle
Or else unmentioned but a particular date looms in the future
From the day of birth one’s time clock ticks on
And each passing day is one day nearer the expiry date
Pessimistic and bleak one might say
But realistic and potentially positive too in another way
It’s all about how you look at it
Deep within me was planted a seed
From whence it came I think it is God
Upon the fertile soil of my soul it flourished
A sense that life is precious time and that’s all I’ve got
To truly live each moment to the full
And not take each day for granted
Living as if each day is the expiry date
Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we shall live and do this or that.” Apostle James
