The Cold of Failure

To dare mighty things... takes courage, not just for doing anything, but rather in doing the right thing. What holds me back is fear, fear of failure.

This frozen zone turns every living breathe to ice bits. What protects me from this hostile white world of blinding snow is my thick and warm layers of clothes. Not just any clothes, but winter ones, made just for such times and purpose. It is my way of saying that I need protection, I need warmth, I need covering. In the sub-zero temperatures, exposed fingers would freeze up, get frost bitten, and break off before too long.

Jesus, you're my covering, my warmth, my comfort, my sustainer. No where else and no one else. I put on the robes of righteousness that You provide, hand made by the Master. Custom tailored to fit me perfectly. In Christ, only in Christ can I do all things through Him who gives me strength. In Christ, there is no failure, only growth into His likeness.

Having put on Christ, I still need to get out into the world and live there. But I'm not alone. Jesus Christ is with me. And He keeps me covered, and backed up, with His assuring presence. Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

For too long I have served failure as my god. But Christ has set me free. Free from the tyranny of failure. Free from the fear of failure. Free to grow in spite of and even, because of failure. For there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
