On the Fourth of July

Here's my poem for friends in the United States of America.

On the fourth of July
Is there a heart cry
Across the land of the free
True freedom
A genuine independence day
One might say
Not a once a year celebration
But a condition
A state of life
Daily
Living free
Under the rule of God
The God the founding fathers
Looked to
How far have you come
How far have you departed
From that pure cry
Is it time to see
People truly set free
From the tyranny of sin
Washed in the blood of the Lamb
Let the star and stripes be
And America shall be free!
