I will not envy
Tell yourself, I will not envy
Cause it gonna drive you crazy
When you score points by accumulation of money & property
It's just silly and funny
Can't take my riches to grave city - can try, but my o my!
Dead men have no use for earthly gain nor fame
Envy's one of many engines that drives the economy
Where would it leave you & me?
If we're happy and content with what we have
Credit cards and debts would then not leave you for dead
No, you say, it's insane - not to play the game!
That everyone's the same
Keeping up with the Jones & Wongs
But when the game's over, & the stadium clears
Gone are the fans' cheers
You'll still be alone and you get the sense that something's really wrong
Mansions, Lamborghini and martinis
Flashlights, news bites, and air time
Grabbing attention because you can't stand the limelight's on the other person
It's an empty way, an empty life
To be filled with envy, it leave you lonely
Can't tell if your homies dig you or your home
Can't tell if her love for you is just a financial deal
My Bible tells me that the love of money is a root of all evil
That's proven through history
I believe it's true when envy fuels the use of money
The problem of every nation is not money
It's envy and pride and insecurity
Someone sang - don't worry, be happy
I'll sing - don't worry, don't envy!
