I Said Yes to Him

I gave Jesus the full say in my life 20 plus years ago. My life has changed so much since then. It began with a simple conversation. A stream of thoughts - just as i am ... i simply come. I was absorbed in learning Evangelism Explosion, when I was blown away by spiritual grenade lobbed into my heart. It dawned upon me that I had not yet welcomed Jesus into my world.

Till then, I knew about Jesus. But I honestly don't know Him. My world had been so full of me, there was no room for Him. He was an occasional acquaintance. Of course when I was in some sort of trouble, I'd call Him up for help. But you know, I was like many others. I call Him up ONLY when I needed help! Hah! Who needs friends like me ... or you!

I'd love to tell you that my life was dramatically transformed after I welcomed Jesus into my world, but it wasn't so. Well, you can't expect a new born to become an adult within a day, a year or even twenty years! Hey, some people are more than 30 years old and they still don't seem to qualify as adults! In any case, it was like any other friendships on planet earth. You've got to take time and make time to get to know one another. In my case, Jesus knew everything about me already. Knowing Him was the harder part. I used to fall asleep when I read the Holy Book. Have you ever fallen asleep while your best friend is talking to you?

I learned to trust Jesus. Bit by bit. I don't trust people easily back then. Still don't. It takes time. It takes proving. In real life. You'll find out very quickly who your true friends are, when you are at your worst and they still love and accept you. You'll know who sticks around to help when you are faced with a herd of stampeding buffaloes! I learned to trust Him. To say Yes to Him. When He speaks, I "try" to listen. One thing I love about Jesus, He's a true friend, a voice of truth for my life.

Jesus rules my world!
